SUMMARY:Alcatraz Island and Pier 39
DESCRIPTION:Come join us on a bus trip to\nAlcatraz Island in San Francisco\nTuesday\, April 21st.\nAlcatraz\, also known as The Rock\, was a maximum-security federal prison from 1934 to 1963.  It was a cold foreboding place as a prison.  Now it’s a national park that you can visit and learn the history of being a prisoner there.\nWe will leave the Almaden Community Center at 8:00am and return to the center around 6:30pm. We will supply you with a bottle of water and a small snack. You may bring food with you. Please wear appropriate clothing for San Francisco.\nWe will travel to Pier 33 to take the ferry over to Alcatraz Island. You then walk the ¼ mile up the hill to start the tour or take a tram up. Once at the entrance of the cell block\, you will receive headphones with a handheld device and begin your tour. You tour the prison on your own\, listening to the audio and end up near the gift shop. The tour of the prison takes about 45-60 minutes. We will gather at the dock to take the ferry back to the pier.\nYou may take the bus or walk the ½ mile to Pier 39 for lunch and shopping or stop at any location along the Embarcadero or Fisherman’s Wharf.\nThe bus will pick you up for the ride home in front of Pier 39. \nPrice $90.  Cash or Check (check made out to ASA).\nTickets are on sale the Almaden Community Center lobby M/W/F from 8am-10am\nFor more information call Rich @ 408-219-8641
