The National Steinbeck Center:
Travel by bus from the Almaden Community Center to Salinas, CA and the National Steinbeck Center (Steinbeck Museum). There we will be given a docent-led tour.  You are also free to go through the museum on your own.
Born in Salinas John Steinbeck lived there from his birth in 1902 until he left for college in 1919. Between 1929 and 1966, Steinbeck published works of fiction, non-fiction, short stories and screenplays the most famous being Mice and Men, The Grapes of Wrath and East of Eden

Steinbeck House:
The Steinbeck House, his boyhood home, now a restaurant, two blocks from the center where we will enjoy a 3 course lunch with beverage and hear about the house and it’s history before lunch.  Explore the basement gift shop before returning to Almaden.
